Safety

At Tenaska, safety is job number one. From the boardroom to the control rooms of our facilities, we work to ensure the safest possible environment for our employees, our customers, our community and our natural environment.

Our projects incorporate industry-leading safety protocols, vigilant employee awareness and ongoing training to build a safety record that is among the best in the industry.

Carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology is one of the safest, cleanest and most efficient ways to prevent carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from going into the atmosphere. CO2 is the one of the most naturally abundant gases in our environment. It is non-explosive, non-toxic and safe for humans, animals and plants.

CO2 storage sites and pipeline networks are subject to rigorous permitting and regulatory requirements by federal and state agencies. They require many years of planning to ensure such projects are designed and operated in a safe manner.

We know that the Floridan Aquifer, which is one of the most productive aquifers in the world, is a genuine treasure to Hernando County. Recognizing this, CCS storage is ideally suited because it will be stored thousands of feet below the lowest water levels and separated by multiple layers of impervious caprock. Injection wells utilize multiple layers of steel and cement, creating an impenetrable barrier and safeguarding the water.
