Given the unique geology and industries located in Hernando County, Tenaska is exploring the development of a carbon capture and storage (CCS) facility to serve Central Florida. The facility would capture carbon dioxide (CO2) from industrial customers and transport it to geologically secure underground storage locations in the area.
The Mangrove CCS Hub will help area manufacturers, power generators and other local industries meet environmental requirements in a cost-effective and safe manner. CCS projects like this also provide other benefits including jobs, revenue and an enhanced ability to attract new employers to the county.
